View higher resolution version (GIF, 112 KB).
Description
- Replacement of load limited bridges allows for safer and quicker transport routes and assists in the transport of freight from across the South East Queensland region.
Project Benefits
- The project provides strategic benefits by increasing transport efficiency and the capacity of rural producers to transport goods.
- The project would strengthen the position of primary producers enabling efficient transport of agricultural produce and livestock. Increased bus and tourist operations will be available with removal of load limits.
- Improving transport routes and reducing load limits enables more efficient transport of agricultural produces and livestock some of which are exported.
- The population in South East Queensland and areas to the west of Brisbane have rapidly increased populations. Having transport routes that are not capacity limited by load limits improves the potential for development and growth.
- Removing of load limits enables more direct and efficient routes to be used by transport operators, reducing green house gas emissions.
- These bridges provide key links for regional communities to access surrounding areas.
- Removing load limits will enable more efficient bus routes.
- The bridge network would benefit the regional economy across Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Scenic Rim Regional Council and Somerset Regional Council.
