• Enhanced rail freight movement within and across the region. Removes significant delays and scheduling restrictions due to clashes with passenger travel requirements, which also benefit significantly.
• Increased Rail freight movement along the Queensland coast line has ongoing regional economic benefits.
• The upgrade would provide a large efficiency improvement and better link within the region. Required to meet the doubling of the freight task over the next 20 years.
• The upgrade would enhance existing economic activity in the region.
• Taking heavy freight vehicles off the road.
• Assist in the development of the northern South East Queensland region. Reverse the trend of increasing frequency of freight vehicle accidents impacting the whole community.
