Description

  • Expands Australia's productive capacity by improving access to the Brisbane City Gateway and the Australia TradeCoast Gateway for workers who live in Redland. This increases Australia's productive capacity by increasing the supply of labour to Brisbane City and the Australia TradeCoast.

Project Benefits

  • Increase labour productivity by reducing travel times and costs for workers travelling between the major residential growth area of Redland and their places of employment in Brisbane City and Australia TradeCoast.
  • Helps diversify Australia's economic capabilities by increasing the efficiency with which existing infrastructure is used, thereby increasing the flexibility with which Australian industry can adjust to, and take advantage of, changes in the economic environment.
  • Helps increase the competitive advantage that Australia already gains from its investment in the Australia TradeCoast port infrastructure by providing improved access for workers located in the major residential growth area of Redland.
  • Facilitates the residential growth required to house the increased workforce required to meet the needs of growth in economic activity in Brisbane City and Australia Trade Coast.
  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by improving traffic flow and hence reducing fuel consumption (due to less stop/start driving). Also reduces reliance on car useage by facilitating public transport and providing 1.5m cycle lanes and 2m wide footpaths to encourage active travel modes.
  • Improved quality of life by reducing congestion and road accidents. Proposed rail crossing upgrades would increase public safety.
  • Upgrades key arterial feeders that support the AusLink national network (Gateway Motorway, Australia TradeCoast, Brisbane Urban Corridor).
